The Story

You awake to find yourself in a room. No memory of how you got there.
After taking in your surroundings, you notice a computer in front of you.

PRESS START TO BEGIN - The computer flashed across the screen, blinking on and off.

But as you reach out your hand to start the game, a sudden creak arose from behind you. As you turn your head around you find a large wooden box sitting in the middle of an endless corridor...

Upon closer inspection you notice two glowing eyes peering from within the wooden box.
As your eyes lock gazes with whatever manner of creature is hiding inside of the box, the eyes of the mysterious being began to slowly sink into the box as the lid steadily closes shut with a small wooden clunk.

Thoughts race throughout your mind as you ponder...
What was that thing, inside The Box.

Gameplay

The gameplay loop of The Box revolves around switching between playing a retro style platformer and checking the wooden box behind you for any signs for disturbance.

The platformer game itself contains 20 levels! And you finish the game by completing them. As you play through the levels of the retro platformer, the difficulty of both the main game and the platformers levels will increase.

Controls

Use W and S to navigate the main menu and SPACE to select.

While playing the game use S to turn around and check the box behind you, use S again to turn back toward the computer. Press W to enter the computer screen.

While using the computer, use W, A and D to control your character on screen.
Hold down W to jump higher, and press S to exit the computer screen.

Press Esc to pause the game and to return to the main menu.

This is my first game that I have published.
